Lead Fishing Guide
Paul grew up fishing in a local neighborhood stream with a fly rod given to him by his father. A family heirloom, the rod had been collecting dust for many years. At a young age Paul brushed off the dust taught himself how to catch sunfish, brook trout and bass under a large waterfall which led into a stream. As his passion and skill set broadened, he started to venture out to the Mill River in Hamden. His dad would drop him off at the Farmington and Housatonic Rivers for hours where one day he crossed paths with a guy in a cowboy hat. He tied the most amazing flies Paul had ever seen and generously offered helpful tips and tactics. Paul still admires “Cowboy Dave” as the legend who inspired his continuous quest for learning the sport. Eventually, Paul frequented the fly shop on the Farmington River where he met more fisherman, including Bruce Marino and Shawn Britton. They were both great fly tiers and guides who worked with Paul and eventually encouraged him to start guiding his own trips. After shadowing his mentors, along with the inspiration of Richard Strolis, Paul’s first guide trip was a true success. He gave a great casting lesson and walked into an epic hatch where fish were caught left and right. From that day forward he learned how to guide out of a drift boat and raft. Watching in from other great guides and honing in on the skills they taught, brought him the level of expertise to become the professional guide he is today. Paul’s passion and love for fly fishing has brought him across the country from the Delaware River to New York, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Colorado and beyond. He is grateful to return to his CT river roots to offer an amazing experience to anyone seeking the perfect outdoor adventure!
